Fable II To Be Digitally Distributed?

posted in: Game News 4

EA have already put their Burnout Paradise on PSN and now it looks like Microsoft is going to put Fable II on the digital distribution block. GameIndustry.biz reported that Peter Molyneux hinted to the fact that “could be made available as a full digital release on Xbox 360.”

It’s a step in the right direction and will ultimately cut that pesky middleman out. I’m sure the game publishers would like nothing more than to get rid of the need for physical copies and that “painful” used games market. And with this recession, that used games “problem” will only get worse.

I’m sure it sucks to see a copy of your game being sold to another person for $50 while your new copy sits on store shelves.

Just like I’m sure it sucks for [insert car company here] when I buy their car used instead of a new one, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

You should read that article. It argues from all sides already including the car analogy.

Anyways, publishers don’t have a problem with the entire used game’s market. Just the practice of selling used games for a mere $5 – $10 off the retail price when the game is just a week old.

They buy it for like $30 and sell it for $50 while the retail copy sits at $60.

      That’s the problem.

How is that a problem? once you use something and you’re done with it you are free to do as you wish. How is this different from a pawn shop? Or from those crazy gold buying commercials? they buy your shit cheap and sell it for less than it would cost brand new, makes sense to me.

    They need to QQ more.

I don’t have a problem with it. I’m just passing what I’ve read. Anyways, read that Gamasutra article if you want more anger.
