Yeah, yeah. The Nintendo DS shifted impressive numbers. The PlayStation 3 slips under 200, 000 units for the third month in a row and the PlayStation 2 still manages to hang around with significant numbers.
But that’s enough about hardware; let’s talk software. This month was all about open world games and fighters. I’m shocked by the kind of numbers that Prototype is pulling. The Xbox 360 version managed to outsell inFamous’ two months worth of sales. On the bright side, inFamous managed to make it into the top 10 twice in a row. It also managed to increase in units sold which I believe is a first for the PlayStation 3.
It’s obvious that UFC is the sport these days. Fight Night Round 4 sold well enough, but what’s most surprising is how narrow the gap is between the two HD platforms — only a 50, 500 difference.
Lastly, congrats to EA and its EA Sports Active bundle. You’ve got yourself a winner there.
