The Xbox 360 did very well in February to say the least — it beat out the Nintendo Wii. Sony and Nintendo may spin it towards supply constraints, but the bottom line is that the Microsoft moved more home console units in this month. However, to the credit of the Japanese manufacturer’s , the didn’t do poorly either.

The software side of things was quite intriguing.

  • BioShock 2 took the number one spot with the Xbox 360 version, but the PlayStation 3 version is no where to be found. Is it really an Xbox franchise now? It sold less than 219, 000 units which is pretty poor by comparison
  • Heavy Rain made into the top 10 with only five days’ worth of sales. Very impressive for an experimental and risky game like this.
  • Dante’s Inferno for the PlayStation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 version by a sizable margin. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this happen. Very impressive for Electronic Arts considering God of War III’s presence on the platform. Maybe that exclusive “Divine Edition” worked its magic? Or perhaps PS3 owners simply enjoy their character action games more.
  • Just Dance continues to sell gangbusters for Ubisoft. They must be really pleased by that.
  • I’m very pleased to see Mass Effect 2 continue to do so well.
