May 2010’s NPD numbers finally arrived in their half glory. (Remember: NPD only provides numbers for the top 5 software and hardware.

The PSP numbers are the most disappointing yet, I believe. Less than 60, 000 isn’t a sign of health.

But enough about hardware.

Red Dead Redemption sold well for its opening month; especially for the Xbox 360 which I hear is the superior version — technically speaking. Super Mario Galaxy 2’s numbers may seem low, but it’s just the first week’s worth of sales and knowing Nintendo, it will continue selling for months and months. Alan Wake’s numbers don’t look so hot. I have yet to start it, so I can’t say that’s warranted or not.

Notable absences for the month include Lost Planet 2, Split/Second & Blur. Seeing how Blur was effectively put on the price cut list with that $20 off coupon, I’m guessing it didn’t sell very well at all Too bad because it looks amazing.
