TGS 2010: Capcom Announcements & Reactions

posted in: Game News | 0

It looks like every publisher wishes to tick off its fans at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Capcom is no different, but they’re irking people via proxy; not a single one of these games are being developed internally.

I’ll let you guess which game is ticking people off.

DmC

Developer: Ninja Theory
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Release Date: TBD

My Reaction

The character design reminds me of Twilight and not the stylish wise cracking cheesy show off that was Dante of old. That saddens me. The trailer also didn’t portray the action in the same quick and stylish fashion of old either. It’s also being developed by Ninja Theory who has yet to impress within the character action genre.

Asura’s Wrath

Developer: CyberConnect 2
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Release Date: TBD

My Reaction

I actually like what I’m seeing with Asura’s Wrath. It looks crazy and over the top with its giant Galactus sized Buddhas. I also find the prospect of swinging a giant pillar appealing. It’s also worth noting that this game actually features decent looking hair for an Unreal Engine 3.0 game. That’s a genuine tough act to pull off for a licensee.

Dead Rising 2: Case West

Developer: The recently purchased, Blue Castle Games
Platform: Xbox 360
Release Date: TBD

My Reaction

I’m not particularly excited for Dead Rising 2, but I guess it’s neat to know that there’s more content for the game coming after the game’s release. And if Capcom felt the need to purchase Blue Castle Games, they must be doing something right.
