DICE announced Bad Company 2 VIP Map Pack #7 featuring four new maps.

For realsies. Sorta. Depends on how you view it.

Map 1: Oasis
Origin: Battlefield: Bad Company multiplayer
Game modes: Rush, Conquest, Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch

Map 2: Harvest Day
Origin: Battlefield: Bad Company multiplayer
Game modes: Rush, Conquest, Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch

Map 3: Cold War
Origin: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 singleplayer
Game modes: Rush, Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch

Map 4: Heavy Metal
Origin: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 singleplayer
Game modes: Conquest, Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch

As you can see, these are four new maps. They’re not rejiggered existing maps at all. They are, however, using existing assets and/or designs.

But don’t think I’m ungrateful. I am very grateful for this free content because I’ve never played Bad Company 1 and I have no qualms about using the single player campaign as a basis for maps — everybody else is doing it.

I am a bit disappointed by the timing though. They should have released these new maps three or four map packs ago. Drop one of them in alongside those other map packs/unlocks. But instead, they announce it a day before Call of Duty: Black Ops.

And when should we expect this first legitimate map pack? Before or after the paid four map Vietnam expansion? What’s the time gap between them? The release details are scarce and since they didn’t put up a nice montage of these new map, I believe it’ll be awhile.

I wouldn’t mind being wrong though.
