The folks at Cnet noticed Intel added a trio of ultra-low voltage Sandy Bridge processors that could very well end up in the upcoming Macbook Air.
Check these out:
- Core i7-2677M: 2 cores, 1.8 GHz (turbos to 2.9GHz), 4MB cache, 17 watts, $317
- Core i7-2637M: 2 cores, 1.7GHz (turbos to 2.8GHz), 4MB cache, 17 watts, $289
- Core i5-2557M: 2 cores, 1.7GHz (turbos to 2.7GHz), 3MB cache, 17 watts, $250
As expected these are dual-core parts which, to be honest, is beefy enough. What’s eye opening are the Turbo speeds. 1.0 to 1.1 GHz speed increases? I wonder if Apple will allow it their processors to clock that high.
If you can’t already tell, I’m anxious for the new Macbook Air. I’ve even gone as far as to post about the microprocessors that are going to be powering these things. That’s how stoked I am.
