Is anyone surprised by this recent news?
The PlayStation Vita will not be hitting North American or European store shelves this holiday season. Only Sony’s home country of Japan will be getting their hands on the next generation handheld device.
North America and Europe will be getting their hands on the Vita in early 2012. This sounds like a potential stock and manufacturing issue, but is that all?
I think Sony is worried after seeing the Nintendo 3DS and its early price cut. They need to maintain momentum and the only way they could do that is to give developers more time to make games. They cannot afford to cut price like Nintendo did with their handheld, so all they have to rely on is software.
If I were a betting man, I’d peg “early 2012” as March 2012.
