AMD’s latest budget and “mainstream” video cards aren’t impressing the reviewers. The AnandTech and Tech Report reviews have pegged these cards as competent, but priced incorrectly. But what’s most damning are lines like this:
I hate to end on a down note, but two years after the Radeon HD 5770’s debut, AMD could have done a lot better.
I have the Radeon HD 5770 and it’s been a solid performer and it was priced well considering the competition at the time.
The Radeon HD 7770, on the other hand, is priced at $159.99 while the Radeon HD 6850 sits at around $149.99.
I’m not sure if it’s ignorance or arrogance, but I hope NVIDIA comes in and blows them out of the water with their next generation of video cards. When you can buy the faster Radeon HD 6850 — last generation’s card — for less than your current generation offering, that’s just plain insulting to the consumer.
