Somehow, we’ve ended up with at least four racing games debuting later this year.
- Sep. 30: Forza Horizon 2 (X1)
- Oct. 7: DriveClub (PS4)
- Nov. 11: The Crew (PC, PS4, X1)
- Nov 2014: Project CARS (PC, PS4, X1)
I’m not sure who will come out on top. The platform exclusives should fare well unless the reviews condemn it. Simulation fans will likely drift towards Project CARS but footage like this leaves me wanting:
I’m getting Forza Horizon 2 because it looks like it’s a nice mix of open world and Project Gotham-esque racing (not quite arcade but not quite simulation). If DriveClub PS+ Edition impresses, I’ll consider picking it up down the road. The Crew? I’ve seen footage of it from the beta but it looks like a little too big for my liking.
Project CARS is the only simulation game coming this holiday season and while I am a fan of simulation games, there needs to be more than just the driving to get me excited. It is a game after all.
