Checkpoint: Competitive Weekend 2012

I certainly didn’t plan to do a lot of stream/TV watching this weekend but it was tough not to.

It started with a bit of Evo 2012 on Friday night, then a lot of it on Saturday and then some more on Sunday. Watching the biggest fighting game tournament on the planet is very entertaining. I just wish they got their act together. Why have the ability to do instant replay when your commentators don’t even know what the current bracket standings are?

Checkpoint: Evo 2K 2011 Edition

I haven’t been watching this year’s EVO 2K fighting game tournament at Las Vegas. Some of it is due to lack of interest to watch a stream all weekend, but it’s also because I find the fighting game community a bit of an embarrassment to watch.

The heavy use of lingo and lack of professionalism throughout makes the entire production a constant hit or miss. And with so very little bandwidth to spare for the remainder of this billing cycle, I can’t afford to waste it on cringe worthy streams.

Fortunately, the pros and quality commentating come out during the finals and that’s what I’ll be watching starting with the Mortal Kombat finals at 2 PM PST.
