Grand Theft Auto Online Looks Promising

I tried Grand Theft Auto IV’s online mode once and it didn’t take long before I lost interest. It looks like Rockstar is taking great strides to win folks like me over with Grand Theft Auto Online.

I sincerely hope there is a decathlon style playlist where teams can play through a series of events. We can start with a race on foot, then to cars, then some team death match, some more racing with planes and so on. Not knowing what event is next or where to go next is part of the fun.

Grand Theft Auto Online will be bundled with every copy of Grand Theft Auto V and will launch on October 1st, 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I’ll be waiting for the PC version still.

Rockstar continues its tradition of releasing informative videos of their upcoming games. Grand Theft Auto V looks like an incredibly diverse game with many of the world building aspects of the Yakuza games, Rockstar’s newfound knowledge of third person shooters and buckets upon buckets of high level production skill.

I won’t be getting the game on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 but I look forward to the eventual PC release with much anticipation. If only they followed the Saints Row lead and release a PC build day and date.

Would you look at this stuff that they’re showing off in this? If they’re actually all playable activities and not just isolated for missions, this is one big game Rockstar is putting together. And if they’re all reasonably well executed as well? That would make Grand Theft Auto V something really special.

With such a big world that they’re crafting, I sincerely hope that it is worth exploring.
