Halo 3: ODST & Uncharted 2 Statistics

posted in: Game News 0

Some interesting statistics were revealed today involving both Halo 3: ODST and the Uncharted 2. Both sets of numbers were quite fascinating.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Stats from the multiplayer demo:

  • Total Number of games played – 1,217,424
  • Total Number of Kills – 92,110,787
  • Total Number of Treasures Captured – 1,860,645
  • Total Amount of Money Earned – $38,841,367,350
  • Total Time Played – 9,905 days (or 27+ years!)

A single review stat:

  • 17/34 reviews are scored 100 and currently sits at 97/100 average on MetaCritic

Halo 3: ODST

  • Sold 2.5 million units within the first two weeks of release
  • Generated $125 million in sales
  • Total franchise sales exceeds 27 million units

Trade-in Value

  • $40 CAD at EB Games (I just traded it in towards Forza Motorsport 3)

I’m surprised by ODST’s numbers. I didn’t think it would do that well seeing how it’s primarily single player focused. I wonder what the trade-ins are with that title. Regardless, I still recommend you all play it. It’s pretty good!

As for Uncharted 2’s stats, it’s shocking to see how many hours were logged with the multiplayer. 27+ years! And that’s just the demo. I hope this translates to excellent sales; Naughty Dog deserves it. But I do wonder how much of it was spent waiting on the matchmaking though. Hey ohh!

    Halo 3: ODST Campaign Review

I never intended to pick up Halo 3: ODST primarily because I was “Halo’ed” out after Halo 3‘s campaign I didn’t want to see or hear the Master Chief again. I wanted no more Cortana and no more of the Flood either. I guess Bungie felt the same way by the looks of ODST. With this installment, Bungie took the successful Halo 3 formula and remixed it for another adventure. This prequel to 2007’s multi-million seller may feature a shorter campaign and questionable pricing, but I liked it. You could say that I liked it more than Halo 3 itself.

Checkpoint: Calm Before The Storm 2009 Edition

There was no Checkpoint last week because I was busy earning bonus cash. Bonus cash which I could then use for the next two months’ worth of games. It’s Labour Day weekend which means its the calm before the 2009 holiday gaming storm.

So let’s take a look what September and October has to offer. Note that I’ll be cherry picking the ones that I may be interested in (including the preferred platform). For the full list, I suggest you waltz on over to Gamespot.
