Evolve is coming

Gears of War’s Mad World was a magical trailer. It successfully imprints itself into my brain and left me wanting to know more about the game. Since then many publishers have tried to replicate that trailer’s approach but it takes more than a somber tune and some pretty graphics to pull me in.

2K and Turtle Rock Studios’s Evolve trailer is the latest attempt:

The trailer starts promising enough but it should have ended around the 1 minute and 30 second mark.

As for the game itself? The actual game looks alright. It’s a multiplayer only title featuring 4 player controlled humans vs 1 player controlled monster. I wasn’t much of a fan of Left4Dead’s style of co-op, I prefer class based co-operative modes. I’m also not a fan of the asymmetrical 4 vs 1 style of game play. They sound intriguing but not enough to warrant a try.

Evolve is slated for a 2014 release for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
