Some StarCraft II News To Think About

posted in: Game News 0

Two news articles caught my eye this morning; both StarCraft II related.

The first stated that Blizzard beloved RTS was held up for a year as staff was shifted to the World of Warcraft cash cow.

“One of the reasons that StarCraft II had some delays very early on in development is because a fair amount of the design team went onto World of Warcraft for a year to really help finish that game off,”

They even had a playable build of StarCraft II’s multiplayer for balancing purposes since 2005-2006!

Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta Impressions

Access to the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta was granted through contests, pre-orders and special consideration from the Game Advisory Panel. I didn’t get in through any of those; I got in through the kindess of strangers. It is what I expected. It’s Uncharted’s cover system, shooting mechanics and fluid animation put through multiplayer paces. And I liked it.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 MP Trailer

Update: Four screenshots were released and posted below!

This is what we’ll be able to accomplish in Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s multiplayer.

It seems DICE really want to win over the masses with their multiplayer and I’m willing to give them a chance. I wasn’t particularly fond of Bad Company’s multiplayer, but that’s so 2008.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is scheduled for an early 2010 release.

BioShock 2 Multiplayer Tidbits

2K revealed a handful of BioShock 2 multiplayer details today. Digital Extremes, known for their work with the Unreal and Unreal Tournament franchise, will be working on the multiplayer component of BioShock 2. This is the same development house who helped port BioShock to the PlayStation 3 — so they’re not complete strangers to the franchise

BioShock 2’s multiplayer will employ character development through the use of an experience points system. I’m picturing Call of Duty 4’s multiplayer, but with Plasmids and Tonics. The press release also stated that  players will “learn more about the fall of Rapture as they progress through the experience”. Since the multiplayer action will take place before the fall of Rapture, it is possible to catch a glimpse of what Rapture was like, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

BioShock 2 is coming late this year for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
