Captivate 2012 Trailers

posted in: Game News 0

Another year, another Captivate event held by Capcom. This year’s event held very few surprises. A new Darkstalkers game wasn’t announced and we certainly didn’t see anything Mega Man related.

Capcom did shed more light on their upcoming Resident Evil and Devil May Cry games with a couple of showy trailers.

Resident Evil 6

The reveal Wesker Jr. and the confirmation of Sherry Birkin were nice little surprises, but for anxious fans, the new release date of October 2, 2012.

Resident Evil 6 Unveiled

Here’s a trailer of the newly unveiled Resident Evil 6.

After Resident Evil 5, I’m wary of any Resident Evil game from Capcom. The game undoubtedly looks good thanks to MT Framework and they are showing some classic Resident Evil scenarios, but I’m still skeptical.

It’ll have multiple playable characters including Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield. Co-op is also making a return which I’m indifferent to; it’s great for folks who have someone to play with, but solo folks will have to hope for some competent A.I.

Resident Evil 6 is slated for a November 20, 2012 release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version will “follow”.

My Resident Evil History

I originally wrote this for NeoGAF’s Resident Evil Community Thread. I revised it slightly for this post.

My first Resident Evil game was Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the Sega Dreamcast. I loved it. I’ve tried Resident Evil games before this one, but RE:CV was the first to click with me. Crazy story plots, the best looking Resident Evil game of the time and it was an unsettling adventure. I still hold this game very highly.

With that in mind here is my personal ranking of the franchise that I’ve played thus far:

  1. Resident Evil Remake
  2. Resident Evil: Code Veronica
  3. Resident Evil 4
  4. Resident Evil 2
  5. Resident Evil 3
  6. Resident Evil 5

I’m missing out on so many HD collections

posted in: Game News 0

kojima_productions_logo.pngICO & the Shadow of the Colossus Collection comes out tomorrow and I’m not getting it because there are so many other releases that aren’t re-releases coming within the next two months.

It’s really too bad because I’ve never played ICO and SotC deserves a revisit in glorious 30 FPS. (For those who don’t know that’s actually 15 FPS upgrade over the PlayStation 2 release.)

But that’s not the only HD re-release that I’m interested in. Below is a list of wanted HD re-releases that have been released or will be releasing this year.

  • The Sly Cooper Collection
  • God of War Origins Collection
  • The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection
  • Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
  • Resident Evil 4 HD

That’s eleven games that I would love to revisit before more new games and remakes hit store shelves tomorrow.
