Grand Theft Auto V PS4 Review

“Good things come to those who wait.”

I never intended to play Grand Theft Auto V on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. I was confident that a PC release would debut shortly after the initial console release. Nine long months later, in June of this year, Rockstar officially confirmed the existence of a PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of their 2013 best seller. The PC version wasn’t going to make it this year and since I didn’t want to roll the dice on that version, I decided to go with the PlayStation 4 release.

A new & improved GTA V

“Good things come to those who wait.”

In the case of GTA V, that wait was just little over a year. Improved visuals and performance were to be expected. But features like a first person view? I didn’t expect that.

I guess Rockstar wanted to pluck the mod community’s low hanging fruit and include a first person view themselves. I think it looks great. I just hope it’s actually plays properly with that perspective. I think it’s something that will be better experienced in a subsequent playthrough though. GTA titles were made with a third person camera in mind and some sight gags could be overlooked when playing through the eyes of the character.

GTAV’s Final Trailer

Rockstar’s final trailer for GTAV is in line with their other trailers. Well produced, features a wonderful soundtrack and hints at grander things to come.

Rockstar’s knack for using licensed soundtracks has reached new heights with their inclusion of 240 licensed songs stretched across 15 radio stations. I don’t know if they’ll use it as well as the folks at Volition and Saints Row but I look forward to discovering if can.

Grand Theft Auto V will debut on September 17th on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Rockstar debuts GTAV gameplay

Rockstar continues its tradition of releasing informative videos of their upcoming games. Grand Theft Auto V looks like an incredibly diverse game with many of the world building aspects of the Yakuza games, Rockstar’s newfound knowledge of third person shooters and buckets upon buckets of high level production skill.

I won’t be getting the game on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 but I look forward to the eventual PC release with much anticipation. If only they followed the Saints Row lead and release a PC build day and date.
