Checkpoint: That Was Super Bowl LII Edition

So that was Super Bowl LII. It was an exciting game filled with big plays from both teams and easily one of the smoothest football games I’ve ever watched due to the relatively clean nature of the game. Not a lot of time was wasted with penalties, challenges, and overly long reviews. I enjoyed the game despite the unfavorable outcome for the New England Patriots. Nick Foles’ performance was very impressive and gave me a whole new level of respect for him. I’m still a doubter on his long term viability as a starter but his playoff performance this year was nothing short of stellar.

I came away from that Super Bowl with two questions:

  1. Carson Wentz is clearly the Eagles’ long term QB so what will happen to Nick Foles?
  2. What will the Patriots defense look like with Matt Patricia gone and the lacking personnel?

I came out of last year’s Super Bowl victory amazed but entered the 2017-18 season not pondering much about it. I’m entering the off season with intrigue and look forward to finding out how everything shakes out with new coaches and quarterbacks shifting.

I’m heading towards the end of Persona 5. I don’t know how long I have left but I do know I am in the final quarter. I am still enjoying my time with the game but it has its share of issues that keep it from excelling.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a quality video game and one that makes me want to invest a significant amount of time improving in.

Monster Hunter: World is teasing me with its ridiculousness and this 20% off coupon is making it might tempting.

I’m picking the Carolina Panthers to take the 50th Superbowl in a 31 – 17 win over the Denver Broncos. The Panthers have a potent offence AND defence which I believe will give them more chances to score over the Broncos. The only way I could see the Broncos winning this is if Cam Newton has a Carson Palmer. It’s the Panthers’ game to lose.

For the sake of Peyton’s fairy tale ending, I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think I am.

I have a little combo review of Puzzles & Dragons Z + Super Mario Bros. Edition and Pokemon Picross coming. I’ve stopped playing one and I’m continuing another. I’ll let you guess which.

I finally started playing Far Cry 4. It’s about what I expected (first person shooter mixed with elements from Red Dead Redemption) but first person swinging and crazy bird attacks are surprises.

Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots.

Two 14-4 teams. Number 1 defence vs number 1 offence.

I want the New England Patriots to win but I won’t be surprised with another Seattle Seahawks Superbowl win. If Seattle wins, a new dynasty is born. If New England wins, a legacy will be cemented. Either way, history will be made.

We have a several hours before the opening kick off but I’m not participating in the six hour pre-game hype. Instead, I’m watching the original “football” with Barcelona and Villareal. It’s a 3-2 match at the time of writing with Barca leading.

It’s a sports filled weekend and the last one for quite some time with the NFL season’s finale just a few hours away.

Wind Waker HD is wonderful so far. It’s amazing how well the game holds up on a fundamental level after all these years. The Wii U gamepad additions are nice but not enough for me to utilize full time. I just feel more at home with the Wii U’s Pro controller.

I’m on the final chapter of Dual Destinies and continuing to enjoy FIFA 15’s career mode. I’m wondering if it’ll ever end. I’m looking to up the difficulty up to World Class and starting a new career if/when this current stint ends.
