The Witcher 3 Will Debut Early 2015

I tried to play Dragon Age: Origins several weeks back but I just couldn’t muster interest in the type of fantasy they were selling. I’m more of a Witcher guy and this is why:

Asshole kings, brutal combat and awkward sex scenes. That’s what I’m in for and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks like it will deliver in spades come February 24th, 2015.

I’ll likely pick up the PlayStation 4 version for performance reasons.

The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition Logo

LTTP or ‘late to the party’ pieces are opportunities for me to catch up and write about games I missed out on the first time around. They may contain spoilers.

“The more it changes, the more it stays the same.”

That phrase is applicable to nearly every sequel but I didn’t think it would apply to The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The Witcher was an isometric mouse driven role playing game. The sequel was from the third person perspective, running on a completely different graphics engine and was at home with the Xbox 360 controller. But despite their obvious differences, the two CD Projekt RED titles were more alike than I ever imagined.

Checkpoint - Why I Play Games Edition (Pt. 4)

Sometimes I just want a challenge but not one where I’m trying to best others in a live multiplayer setting. Sometimes I just want to take on the game designer’s creations, beat a friend’s high score or even my own.

I sympathize with developers. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to create convincing artificial intelligence. Bungie’s efforts with the Halo series sit high on my list for walking that tight line between developing something challenging and some something cheap. If I’m bested by the computer, I want to feel like I was outwitted or outmaneuvered, I don’t want to feel like I was taken down because of their robotic precision or their omnipresence.
