Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is coming out this Tuesday. And if you were oblivious to this game and wanted to find out some info, where would you go? The official site? Some ad laden website like IGN or GameSpot? May I suggest NeoGAF?
These official threads, for Uncharted 2 and Forza Motorsport 3, provide everything you ever wanted to know concerning the game. It has links to gameplay movies, screenshots, character biographies and the finer details broken down for ease of consumption. But most importantly, these threads presents this info in a very appealing manner. These posters know these games and have the skills to make it legible and entertaining to read.
Some will say these are glorified advertisements and they’re right in a sense. But they’re also informative. I also find these threads great for keeping a pulse on what’s going on with the community. If this thread pops up to the front page of the NeoGAF gaming forum, you know something is up.
On the flip side, these threads are tough to really engage and have a discussion in. People in here are fans of the game, so criticisms are usually unwelcome. It’s also difficult to pose a question and get an answer because it’ll either get buried or ignored because it was already answered 10 pages ago.
It may have been weird to dedicate a post to NeoGAF’s official hype threads, but I’ve always found them to be awesome efforts which deserved to be recognized.
I grabbed Critter Crunch on Thursday and I’ve been having a blast with it. The last time I checked I was at the 130 rank on the leaderboards. I love high resolution 2-D art and Critter Crunch features that prominently. It’s colorful, charming and easy to comprehend; three great attributes to a successful puzzle game.
I recommend it. Especially for just $6.99.
I’ve also finished Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. It was a mixed bag which I will be getting into with a quick write up later on.
