Checkpoint: End of Vacation Edition

posted in: Editorials & Features | 2

It isn’t my last vacation of the summer (I have another scheduled for Labor Day week), but it is my last one in August in this house.

So what did I do over the past view days? Any projects? Not unless you count playing with this MacBook Air as a project. What I have been doing is watching a lot of TV; specifically A&E HD.

It started with Criminal Minds marathons, but I quickly moved to Storage Wars marathons, Billy the Exterminator marathons and even a handful of episodes of Swamp People.

Criminal Minds is fascinating and fun, but the other shows were my surprise winners. I normally don’t watch reality shows, but these ones were genuinely entertaining and educational. Nearly every episode of these reality shows showed me something that I’ve never seen before.

However, like my relationship with Criminal Minds, I will watch these reality shows whenever they’re on marathon. I won’t be going out of my way to watch the latest episodes because I just don’t do that with many shows.

It took me three days longer than I intended, but I finally wrapped up my second run with Mass Effect. With that I have a fresh save ready for Mass Effect 2.

In the meantime, I started Yakuza 4. I can already tell that it’s a step up compared to Yakuza 3. There’s more to see with underground malls, roof tops and other areas which were previously impassable textures. I’m enjoying it thus far.

I’ve also begun playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s multiplayer again after a long hiatus. It was like riding a bike again. GAF members were still playing frequently so it wasn’t difficult to find a “clan mate” to pair up with.

I’ve also been playing a whole lot of Pac-man Championship DX. Saying it’s good would be an understatement. I really should have picked it up earlier.

I still don’t understand why you watch shit like criminal minds but won’t watch dexter / breaking bad / spartacus / rome. Real HBO shows.

Because I don’t want to go out of my way to watch them. Those just happen to be on and I can just soak them up for however long I want without having to watch the rest of the seasons. No commitment TV!
