I tried. I really tried to like the new Tweetdeck version with its HTML5 powered interface, but I couldn’t keep using it. The basics like live URL shortening and the retrieval of all the updates I missed since I put my Macbook Air (or PC) to sleep are simply broken or missing.
How did this happen? Tweetdeck was snapped up by Twitter and this is the first significant version to emerge from the purchase. They essentially tore it down and built it back up without any of the substance that made the old “yellow badged” Tweetdeck the social media darling it was. Now it’s just an empty mockery of the Tweetdeck of old.
I hope they bring it back to snuff. In the meantime, I’ll be living with 0.38.1 and you can as well with these PC and Mac clients below. Don’t forget you will need Adobe AIR installed to use it.
Tweetdeck 0.38.1 (Mac) (2.3 MiB, 1,375 hits)
Tweetdeck 0.38.1 (PC) (2.2 MiB, 3,515 hits)
I tried Seesmic, but it wasn’t as snappy or responsive as Tweetdeck.
