goty-2011-logoIt took a bit longer than expected, but I finally assembled my personal Game of the Year awards for 2011. I’ll be doling these out of the next few days starting today!

For today, I have the game I wished I spent more time with and also the one I wish I actually got.

The 2011 Game I Wish I Bought & Played in 2011

Self explanatory

Winner: Rayman: Origins (PS3, 360)

I heard a lot of good things about it. It looks beautiful, it’s a classic platformer and it’s from a franchise that I’ve never played before.

The only reason why I didn’t pick it up was because as an Ubisoft title, I knew I can have it for $19.99 in a few months’ time.

Runner-ups: RAGE, The Witcher 2

The 2011 Game I Wish I Spent More Time With

I bought this game in 2011, completed it, but I didn’t get a chance to invest more time into it.

Winner: Mortal Kombat (PS3)

It’s a fighting game again, but this time I did spend 10+ hours with it. Now that I think about it, I believe I poured in over 20 hours if I include the “Challenge Tower”.

It’s a lot of time and yet I felt I didn’t spend enough of it fighting other live combatants. I lay some of the blame with Netherrealm Studios and the online bugs, but it’s ultimately my own fault for not pursuing it further.

Runner-up: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s multiplayer
